Battlefield 3 (First Impressions and Trailers)

Battlefield 3 (First Impressions and Trailers)

Battlefield 3Admittedly, I’ve never really been a fan of the Battlefield game series, but that’s most likely due to the fact that I had never played them. Like most Call Of Duty fanboys I was always anti-Battlefield, well, just ’cause.

As soon as I saw the first few teaser trailers (below), straight away I had a feeling a great game was on its way. Now that I’ve seen the more recent trailers (below) I knew for sure it was the case.

The first thing I noticed about the trailers was the realism; I almost found it hard to distinguish between the gameplay aspects and what I could have sworn was real life footage. The body and facial movements are near-flawless and really let you get engrossed in the actual goings on of the story. The camera movement feels real too, as though you’re really playing as the first-person character.

I played the Fault Line trailer (below) over my HDTV with surround sound speakers and was blown away by the dense and realistic sounds of explosions, gunfire and earth tremors.

In Call of Duty: Black Ops, a game I have wasted many, many hours on due to its addictive online play elements, I felt as though the game itself was fun to play, and visually it was at least appetizing, but never thought to myself “this could be real life”. This is exactly what I and people I have spoken to feel straight after watching the Battlefield 3 trailers, which is a feeling few games have really offered before.

After watching the trailers, I instantly went out and bought Battlefield: Bad Company 2, a game that I enjoyed quite a lot, and found that it actually was very comparable to COD: Black Ops. Recently I finished Bad Company 2, and thanks to the fun I had with the game, I pre-ordered Battlefield 3 within minutes (via Ozgameshop.com).

If you’re a COD fanboy or just don’t think the Battlefield 3 game will live up to its reputation, then give the trailers below a look. They’re sure to blow you away, whether its due to the audio, visual or just the overall realism of them all.
